Founder Stories: Jabaloo

Could you share your background?

My name is Timur Konsky and I’m a marketing expert based in Europe. I operate Jabaloo alongside with my wife who is the co-founder. She is taking care of all operational projects at Jabaloo, and I manage the brand’s advertising. I also work for another company in the finance sector as my full-time day job.

What’s the story behind Jabaloo? What led you to found it?

My wife and I started the business several years ago. As parents, we couldn’t find aesthetically pleasing products for our young children, so we decided to launch our own brand. Since inception, we’ve been able to sell extremely well globally, and have built a reliable customer base who values our products.

What were some challenges you encountered as a first-time business owner?

Setting up the business was an interesting and exciting challenge. Vetting various manufacturers, designing our own products, and fulfilling orders globally has been fun and we’ve seen great growth in our business. Managing paid ads campaigns was also tricky at times, especially recently as CPAs have gone up worldwide.

Why did you decide to sell?

We found that as Jabaloo grew, more reinvestment was required to nurture the growth, and although we love what we built, the business was approaching a level where it required outside expertise to continue scaling. On a more personal level, we wanted to spend more time with our children, and I couldn’t spend more time on Jabaloo’s growth due to my other work.

What was your first impression working with the Cedar Brands team?

We listed our business on a marketplace and received a lot of unqualified interest. It was clear that most buyers were just digging for information, did not have the necessary funding, or had insufficient eCommerce acquisition experience. That is until Cedar Brands came along. Cedar Brands were highly professional, had extremely strong eCommerce experience, and got to an offer quickly. After a brief negotiation, we reached an agreement on terms that we were happy with.

Would you recommend other founders to sell their business to Cedar Brands?

Absolutely. Every buyer needs to do due diligence, but I had heard that selling an eCommerce brand can be a slow, frustrating process with many delays. I found the process with Cedar Brands to be carefully structured, and because of their preparation the deal moved smoothly and quickly.

What’s next for you?

Freeing up the headspace so I can focus on my family and other ventures is a priceless outcome for me. I’m happy that I can say I had an exit and glad to know that Jabaloo is in expert hands to continue growing!
